Our scrimshaw is all hand-etched by Peggy D. Smith, who
has been doing scrimshaw full-time since 1980. The ivories she uses include: mammoth,
mastodon, and ancient walrus, as well as a limited supply of pre-1989 embargo
elephant ivory. She also does some scrimshaw work on natural bone-handled knives, and
occasionally horn. Her pieces range from small pendants to full mammoth and
mastodon tusks. Her pieces can be found in some of the the largest private scrimshaw
collections in the country. You will also find her pieces being worn by people who enjoy
a unique piece of jewelry or being carried in the pocket or purse of people who
want a unique one-of-a-kind knife. The pieces included on this page are a small example of her work. If you are interested in one of the pictured pieces, or if you are interested in having a piece created exclusively for you, please call us or email us and we will be happy to discuss it with you. Peggy can do anything from a small pendant to a 100+ pound mastodon tusk just for you. Order times vary greatly. Please click on pictures below for more detailed
view.
